November 23rd - 29th

We have a short week this week for the Thanksgiving holiday. Monday, November 23rd is 1-4 half day with Parent Conferences from 1-3pm and 5-7pm. Tuesday, November 24th is a 5-9 half day with Parent Conferences from 1-3pm (See HCHS website for more information - http://www.hchs.hunter.cuny.edu/). Have a great week!

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS

I-HELP Liberia
The I-HELP Liberia Club is organizing a benefit concert featuring Emmy- winning Michal Towber (Mr. Towber's daughter!), Arthur Lewis, and Malini Sur, all Hunter alums who are accomplished musicians.
The concert is at 6PM, Saturday Nov. 28th (the Saturday after Thanksgiving) in the Hunter Auditorium. The Hunter Korean Drumming Troop will commence the evening.

Hunter AIDS Walk Team
The Hunter AIDS Walk Team is looking for members for the 2010 walk. Raise money for a wonderful cause and have a nice walk through the park, while earning service credit at the same time! More information to come.

E Magazine
Are you interested in fashion, culture, women's issues, teenage issues, etc? Join E Magazine: Meets Wednesdays, Activities, 325, but contact Arielle Korman (ariellekorman@gmail.com) or Anya Gleizer to confirm we're meeting- we won't meet every week. (This means if you have another club on Wednesdays it shouldn't be a problem!)

Storyboard
We will be hosting comic making workshops on the 7th, 14th, and 21st of December in room 204 on Monday activities through 5th period. We will discuss story making and scripting on the first day, storyboarding, planing and sketching on the second day, and inking and toning on the third day. There will be winter treats. Do not come just for the treats.

SPORTS

The Athletic Association is hosting a Turkey Trot on Tuesday, November 24th after the half day. This is an activity that is designed to help give back to the community. It will consist of a lap around the bridle path of reservior. Participants need to pay a specified amount of money to enter or donate a certain number of cans of food (non-perishable please). Other donations will also be accepted. More information will posted on posters in hallways. Hunter Girls Lacrosse Team

Student Email Distribution
As a way of sharing the HOW newsletter with students, we will be using student email addresses in the online Parent Directory as another method of distribution. PARENTS - please log in (www.hunterpta.org, click on Parent Directory)and update your child's email ID. You may "hide" it from public view if you wish. In the near future, we will send a welcome message to students with login details so they, too, can use the online Parent Directory to search for fellow schoolmates. Students will have search capabilities only, not editing functions.

Arts Day Auditions
Arts Day auditions will be held on Monday 11/30 and Tuesday 12/1 during activity period and 5th period in room 227.
To set up an audition time send an E-mail to Mr. Batson lbatson@hccs.hunter.cuny.edu by Friday, 11/20.
You should be prepared to perform exactly what you intend to play at the audition.

HCES Book Fair
High School Students! On Thursday, December 3rd, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., in the Hunter Elementary School Library, you are invited to come and shop at the Elementary School's annual Winter Book Fair. Buy books for yourselves and find great holiday gifts for younger siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews! Any purchases help support Hunter's K through 6 grades! We hope to see you there.
