CLUB AND PUBLICATION ANNOUNCEMENTS

Cafeteria Waste-Reduction Campaign
Where/When: The cafeteria, starting February 8th
For the next few weeks, if you bring lunch, please bring in a waste-free lunch. A waste-free lunch simply means that the lunch is packed in a reusable bag or lunchbox, that the food is packed as much as possible in reusable containers instead of disposable ones, and that food in individual packages is avoided as much as possible. We are trying to see how much Hunter can reduce its cafeteria waste during this period. For more information, go to www.wastefreelunches.org.

Peer Leadership
When you get mountains of homework each night do you ever wish you could make your teachers see the hours of sports, musical or theater practice you do? The time you spend at a job or doing community service? Your long, long commute to and from school? Well, now you can! In an attempt to further the campaign for a "stress-free day", Peer Leadership is making a movie about what it truly means to be a Hunter student, and would love interested students to contact Isabella Mckinley at the email address below. If you think your busy schedule is worth recognition, or even if you just want to give us a copy of a full page in your planner, send an email, and we'll be in touch.

ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

Come to a basketball game that is also part of Coaches vs. Cancer!
Tuesday Feb. 9th at 4:00 in the Hunter gym
Howdy yall! On Feb. 9th the girls varsity basketball team has a game against its rival Stuyvesant high school! Come out and support the Hawks in this crucial matchup. However, before the game, certain members of sports teams will be raising money for cancer. (i.e. the basketball team has received pledges from people that will donate a certain amount of money to cancer for each foul shot that person makes out of 100). You can take part too! Get some pledges, shoot some freethrows and help battle cancer and have a great time doing it. During the game, the Athletic Association will be selling concessions for your convenience. This is also one of the last home games of the season so make sure you don't miss it!

For the most up to date sports information, please check the Hunter Hawks website:

FROM THE PTA

"CASINO ROYALE" AUCTION
The biggest HCHS fund raiser of the year is coming along nicely and we want to know: how can all of the Hunter families participate? In fact, we want to know so much, we'll be calling you to find out! Be sure to pick up your phone on February 24th, when our volunteers will be conducting the Spring Auction Phone-a-Thon. If you'd like to speak to us in person, two of the Auction chairs will be at the PTA meeting on February 10th, with a sparkling beverage and a chance to win a raffle prize at our festive "Gaming Table" in the auditorium lobby. If you prefer to communicate electronically, we are at Auction@HunterPTA.org. One way or another, we'll be in touch to share our Wish List and find out how you can be a part of this year's "Casino Royale" Auction!

Chinese New Year Fiesta
The Chinese American Parents' Association will host a Chinese New Year Fiesta on Sunday, February 21 at East Buffet and Restaurant in Flushing, Queens from 5-9 p.m. All Hunter parents and students are invited to network together in celebration of the Chinese new year.
