The Mirror: Hunter's Storytelling Group
FREE screening of the movie Sita Sings the Blues by Nina Paley
Tuesday October 27 through Tuesday November 10, Activities Period, Room 424
This is a really creative, funny and visually gorgeous combination of art, music, and stories. Find out how a young American woman finds parallels between her own life and that of the heroine of an ancient myth, the Ramayana. The movie also features the music of Annette Henshaw. Come hang out with your friends (bring pillows and get comfy!), watch a great movie, and discuss the storytelling aspects afterward! There will definitely be free snacks.

Publication
Next Meeting: ACTIVITIES PERIOD on WEDNESDAY, November 4 in ROOM 414
Perhaps you have noticed flyers all around Hunter for a certain "green publication" that lets you "write whatever you want, whenever you want."
We are this brand new, nameless publication -- and we will be going online!
Our philosophy is simple: we wish to have a diversity of both articles and writers, community involvement, and adaptability to public interest and accessibility.
We want to let everyone -- regardless of grade or prior writing experience -- write, or even do, what they want. We are willing to accept anything you wish to submit, from artwork to academic articles, from short stories to fun and games. In the end, we hope that such diversified input will be a faithful embodiment of Hunter culture: we want to make this publication OURS.
We welcome all grades! This is not a MASSIVE commitment. You do not have to attend every meeting or submit frequently, but you should contribute consistently.
WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FOR EDITORS, WEB DESIGNERS, GRAPHIC DESIGNERS, AND PHOTOGRAPHERS!
Feel free to contact hchspublication@gmail.com if you have any questions or if you would like to apply for a position. Thanks!

FROM THE PTA

Student Email Distribution

As a way of sharing the HOW newsletter with students, we will be using student email addresses in the online Parent Directory as another method of distribution. PARENTS - please log in (www.hunterpta.org, click on Parent Directory)and update your child's email ID. You may "hide" it from public view if you wish. In the near future, we will send a welcome message to students with login details so they, too, can use the online Parent Directory to search for fellow schoolmates. Students will have search capabilities only, not editing functions.
